Gelamà was founded in 1892 and is the oldest winery in the DO Empordà region. After a 75-year period of inactivity, the family’s descendants recovered the winemaking tradition and set about making new wines. While retaining its original spirit, the winery focusses on products that mark the difference. Gelamà now produces organic wine, fermented in amphoras and made with native grape varieties, in addition to cava, traditionally made here since the 1920’s.
Gelamà is the only winery in the region to have underground caves, which provide a natural temperature control for storing their wines.
It also offers different wine tourism activities, and runs a country guesthouse.
